On June 25, 2005 the Chesapeake Region of the Rolls-Royce Owner's Club had its first Rappahannock River Romp.  This was held at Shandy Hall near Warsaw, Virginia.

Due to popular demand this will become an annual event.

Here are just a few pictures of the fun along with the article about the event from The Chesapeake Lady.

Rappahannock River Romp

It was a bright, hot early summer’s day when about a dozen Rolls-Royce and Bentley motorcars traversed the back roads of Virginia’s Northern Neck to attend the first annual Chesapeake Region’s River Romp.  With the temperatures about as high as the spirits region members and guests rested in the shade of Shandy Hall’s riverside trees with their picnic baskets and drinks.

Children and adults enjoyed this laid back setting.  Annie Davenport, age 4 ¾ spent several enjoyable hours chatting with and entertaining Mildred Proctor who had come with her son Richard from Maryland.  Dr. Burt Aronoff braved the trip from Delaware even after a very serious injury suffered earlier in the year.  Rod Rydlun had such a good time he even misplaced his famous hat (if anyone found it, please let him know).  Familiar faces to Chesapeake events were there as well as some we do not get to see that much.

Hoc Hughes of Lynchburg attended with his wife.  Hoc had many interesting stories about the region.  Among them were having visited friends in the nearby town of Sharps 60 years ago and also having to eject from his fighter jet in 1961 within a few miles of the event.

Next year when this event rolls around please consider coming.  There is lots of room and things to do including swimming in either the river or the pool, fishing, boating or maybe even a little road rally.
